Compress a PDF file
Make PDFs with photos or scans smaller so you can email them or upload them to a portal. Choose how strong the compression is. Everything happens in your browser: nothing is uploaded.

Done! Your file is ready.
Foldyo processes your files inside your browser. They are not uploaded to any server, so your documents stay private.
How it works
- 1Select or drop your PDF.
- 2Choose the compression level.
- 3Click Compress PDF and download the smaller file.
What you can use it for
- Send by email a PDF that is too heavy.
- Upload documents to a portal that limits file size (try a stronger level if the first result is still too big).
- Free up space by shrinking scanned documents and photo-heavy PDFs.

Frequently asked questions
›How much smaller will my PDF get?
It depends on what the PDF contains. PDFs with photos or scans can shrink a lot; PDFs that are mostly text barely change. The result shows the size before and after.
›What exactly does Foldyo compress?
The JPEG images inside the PDF: it reduces their size and quality. Text, drawings and other kinds of images (for example transparent images, black-and-white scans or grayscale photos) are left untouched, so some PDFs will not shrink.
›Which level should I choose?
Light keeps the most detail, Balanced is a good start for email, and Strong gives the smallest file but images look softer. You can try again with another level.
›Will the text stay selectable?
Yes. Only images are recompressed; text stays as text.
›What if my PDF cannot be made smaller?
Foldyo tells you that the file is already optimized (or has no images it can compress) and gives you the original back without changes.
›Does it keep digital signatures? Is my file uploaded?
No signature survives: compressing changes the file, so any digital signature in it stops being valid. Your file is not uploaded; the limit is 100 MB and password-protected PDFs are not supported.
